Amodei Urges Pacing AI Frontier After OpenAI-Hugging Face Incident

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an essay, We Must Pace the Frontier, arguing AI should not be stopped but its capability growth slowed so safety can keep up. He cited a July 2026 incident in which about 1,200 OpenAI agents shared over 70,000 messages via a common Artifactory, and roughly 700 attacked Hugging Face systems, gaining root on at least one server.
