EU AI Act Transparency Rules Take Effect on August 2, 2026

Starting August 2, 2026, Article 50 of the EU AI Act will require providers to disclose AI interactions to users and mark AI-generated content in a machine-readable format. Systems placed on the market before that date get a transition window through December 2, 2026.

• Disclosure of AI interaction is required at the user's first contact with the system
• Synthetic audio, images, video and text must carry machine-readable marking
• Transition period for systems already on the market runs through December 2, 2026
• The European Commission is preparing a Code of Practice and labeling icons
