Scammers used AI voice clone to steal €95 million from Italian bank Fideuram
Fideuram chairman Paolo Molesini was tricked by a fake WhatsApp message impersonating Intesa Sanpaolo CEO Carlo Messina and a call using an AI-cloned lawyer's voice. The bank transferred €95 million to accounts in China and Hong Kong, recovering €53 million; Molesini resigned in March.
