Digital Realty to build cable landing station in Los Angeles

Digital Realty is developing a new cable landing station (CLS) at its LAX12 data center in Los Angeles. The project is expected to support cables starting in 2028, in partnership with Assured Communications; the number of cables was not disclosed.

• The CLS will sit at the LAX12 facility in El Segundo, a 129,000 sq ft site with about 7MW of capacity
• The station is expected to begin supporting cables in 2028
• Assured Communications will handle design, engineering and construction
• LA is a landing point for subsea cables linking the US with Asia, Australia and South America
