Resetting the body clock helped mouse brains recover after stroke
Researchers at the University of Rochester Medicine found that reinforcing circadian rhythms improved brain recovery in mouse models of stroke. The interventions boosted glymphatic waste clearance and lowered inflammatory cytokines even when treatment began three days after the stroke.
- KL001 and time-restricted feeding began 3 days after stroke
- Mice showed better motor recovery, smaller lesions and stronger glymphatic flow
- All inflammatory cytokines fell, suggesting no single pathway is targeted
- Time-restricted feeding could eventually be used outside hospitals
