Musk: xAI models to match OpenAI and Anthropic by year-end

Elon Musk said xAI's models will be as advanced as those from OpenAI and Anthropic by Christmas. The Colossus 2 datacenter in Memphis is set to reach 1.2 million Blackwell GPUs by year-end, bringing the combined total with Colossus 1 to 1.44 million GPUs.

• Colossus 2 currently runs 110,000 GB200 and 440,000 GB300 GPUs
• Another 660,000 GB300s to be added by year-end, reaching 1.2M Blackwell
• Colossus 1 has 230,000 GPUs (H100, H200, GB200)
• Combined GPU count across both datacenters to hit 1.44 million
