China takes advanced reactor expertise global through IAEA technology-sharing deal

Chinergy, a subsidiary of CNNC, and the IAEA signed a cooperation agreement in Vienna on high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTGR). It covers research, design, construction, commissioning, and exchange of supply chain and training data.

• Agreement signed at 70th IAEA General Conference in Vienna
• Covers R&D, design, construction, and operation of HTGR
• Experience based on HTR-PM project in Shandong, launched in 2023
• China is building Xuwei plant to supply 35 million tons of steam per year
