Trump extends $100,000 H-1B fee: visa issuances plunge 52%

Trump extended the $100,000 H-1B surcharge for another year, through September 2027. State Department data show H-1B issuances fell 52% in the first five months of FY2026 (from 115,164 to 55,057), total non-immigrant visas dropped by one million, and Nigerian visa issuances collapsed 86.7%.
